KC

A couple of weekends ago I enjoyed a trip with Rachel and Emily to Kansas City.

We shopped and ate at some yummy restaurants. Probably the most impressive was this gourmet fondue place called the Melting Pot. I love this picture of Rachel through the steam from our fondue pot heating up.

I loved the beautiful statues all over the city. We took turns having fun with this guy.

After dinner we spent time at a new place called the Power and Light District. The atmosphere was wonderful.

Out of everything we did, my favorite part of our trip was Sunday morning’s search for brunch. This open air farmer’s market included artsy fartsy cafes, fruit and veggie stands, yard sales with antiques and junk alike. I could have spent an entire day and a  wallet full of money there.

Kansas City is so close to us, we’re going to have to make it up there more often.

sticks and stones… and monkey bars

I knew it would probably happen someday. I was just hoping it would be someday far away that one of my kids broke a bone. Emma fell off the monkey bars at school on Friday and has the slightest hairline fracture on her wrist. We’re not sure yet but still praying that she won’t have to have a cast. Which would not be a fun welcome for summer.  Thanks to Dr. Jim (as the kids refer to him) we were able to get X-Rayed and home from our tragic afternoon in time to rest and start our long holiday weekend. I must say it’s been a bit of a blur. Rachel and I photographed a lovely wedding in Vilonia AR on Saturday. Then Sunday and Monday Nathan and I spent our time entertaining the kids with good food and a home-made tent. Emma helped me paint some new chairs for the back porch, but we’re not sure if they’ll ever dry. She ‘graduates’ from Kindergarten this week, and then these last few days of school should fly by because they’re filled with activities. The kids have a count-down until summer, and Jacob keeps teasing me that he’s almost a 3rd grader! They’re growing up too fast. I’m hoping that these little moments like Emma and her wrist situation will serve as some sort of a check mark on the list of childhood inevitabilities and that we won’t have to experience them again…. right?

then comes baby

I met up with Rebecca and Justice recently for an afternoon maternity session. They were so sweet and smiley together.

Rebecca and Justice, good luck with your new sweet baby and Congratulations!

allison + ryan

I met up with Allison and Ryan on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for a trek around Fayetteville where we did their engagement pictures.

We walked in to this great used bookstore where Allison had an idea with these books. She’s from Alabama and Ryan is from Arkansas. I loved it!

We made one quick stop to the home they just moved out of where Ryan had proposed. I couldn’t resist a picture of Allison’s sweet ring on their mailbox.

Ryan and Allison, I had a great time with you both! Good luck with all the wedding planning!

I just want to share these pictures of Bethany’s mom. She passed away on Saturday and Bethany sent me a beautiful e-mail to let me know how glad she is to have these pictures we did last year.

None of us will ever have enough pictures of our parents. Bethany, I’ll be thinking of you and your family and your beautiful mom.

zoo

My brave little girl at the zoo. She survived a goat bite with a smile on her face.

I’ll share more pictures of this fun field trip soon.

mother’s day weekend

This Mother’s Day weekend we finally got our garden put in. The kids were great helpers, and they promise to help me keep up with it.

I was showered with gifts the kids had made at school, and to top it off, they  put on numerous puppet shows for me. In one of the stories, our family went camping, and there was even a “puppet” to represent the check-in booth. For the big finish, there was an airplane carrying a banner wishing me a Happy Mother’s Day.

For dinner, we met everyone in Eureka Springs at an Indian restaurant complete with a live band to celebrate with Nathan’s mom.

The kids passed around a tambourine which I’m sure was contaminated with the swine flu!

Hope you all had a happy Mother’s Day!

rope swing.

A while back, we visited Warren on a cold day to ride 4-wheelers and eat yummy food. The kids…and us adults took a turn on his rope swing.

Jacob stayed the night with Stone, so Emma and I had some girl time the next morning making breakfast.

She was feeling a little goofy I guess. She’s definitely a morning girl with all this energy.

yummy.

our gymnast.

Emma had a fun-meet at her gym recently. She got to show us her skills, and we were of course so impressed and proud of her hard work. Here she is warming up.

She did an awesome floor routine with a great finishing “pose”.

I didn’t get any good pictures of her vault, but here she is on the beam concentrating so well.

The bars are her favorite, and she was so proud of herself for doing so well.

I give her a perfect TEN!

Erin’s Bridals.

Yesterday, Rachel and I photographed the beautiful Waterman wedding. So, I can finally post the Bride’s pictures from our Bridal session we did last month. Erin is a lovely girl with an awesome smile.

Thanks Erin for a fun day at the Mill. I can’t wait to have your wedding photos ready to show you.
