Inspiration:

I’ve been meaning for a while…since I started my blog, to make a post about the photographers whose blogs I stalk or who inspire me or what inspires me. I still intend to do this in complete eventually, but this morning I ran across this slideshow which was incredibly moving.

I hesitate to share this because it is so sad, but it is absolutely beautiful. If you have a few minutes to check it out, it’s worth your time….So inspiring.

days with my father

(Note: This slideshow showed up a little strange on my screen. I had to put my mouse on the bottom of each picture and click on the top of the next picture to get it to show. )

baby Jacob

A little while ago I got to meet baby Jacob. I can’t help but smile when I see his sweet face.

His mom and dad are doing a great job of making sure Jacob’s big sister gets a lot of attention.

Haley, thanks for letting me spend the morning with your sweet family. I can’t wait until next time!

puppy love.

Meet Henry. Thanks to my sister Kristy (and my niece who let us have first choice in getting him), we have a new Dachshund/Yorkie mixed puppy. That’s right, a Dorkie.

Emma got her wish on Christmas night and now we have Henry. Oscar was a little annoyed or maybe scared of the puppy at first. Henry seems to be the boss. He’s eating Oscar’s food and they have switched beds. Which is hilarious since Oscar is hanging off both ends of the tiny bed and Henry’s little body is stretched across the large dog bed.

I’m sure we’ll have many more pictures to post since I often hear from Emma, “Awww, Mom! Take a picture of Henry doing that….”

these girls…

You remember Millie I’m sure. She brought her twin sisters to Fayetteville for one of the coldest shoots I’ve ever been on. These girls were so well put-together, and amazingly inspiring.

Thanks Millie for sharing me with your sisters. Charlie, you are awesome and have such a great presence!

Marilyn, I could take pictures of you all day. You should go into the biz!

and a happy new year

Thanks to my Dad, Nathan and I got a night out on New Year’s Eve.

After a yummy dinner and a cute movie, we headed over to Jamie and Rachel’s to watch the ball drop.

Thanks Dad for partying with the kids!

Oh yeah.

We spent another eventful Christmas Eve with Nathan’s family complete with a Pink-Flamingo-themed box of goodies from Aunt Dru, clam chowder, cookies and egg nog, matching PJs and a show where Kara was sure she was the star.

Christmas morning was everything we hoped for. The kids were excited, surprised, and appreciative.

After a Christmas brunch in Fayetteville, we had dinner with my family. I think I found the trick to getting people to let their guards down for a great picture…just hand the camera to a minor.

My niece Breanna and my nephew Jerry took most of these pictures!

I hope you had a Merry Christmas! (We just now got all the decorations put away.)

Jacob

After my session with Emma, it was Jacob’s turn to venture into the woods. He was a little more reluctant than Emma, and so I shamelessly bribed him with a date to Barnes and Noble. He is also getting so big. He is our little math guy, and asks so many questions about things I’ve never thought about. Usually they’re about space or evolution, and usually I don’t have the answer right away. He’s a great kid with a great personality. I love that he’s so curious and interested in the world. This first picture makes me a little teary-eyed at how grown up he looks.

This is our usual date spot. We share a cookie and a coffee.

Pretty soon, he’ll be big enough that I’ll have to get him his own meal.

I love you Jacob!

Emma

In the fall, I took the kids out for a little session of our own. Emma got to go first and was really into it She had a lot of ideas. I can’t believe how much she’s growing. She’s such a great little girl with lots of “spunk”. That’s a nice way of saying that she can be hilarious and dramatic if she’s in the right mood. She’s doing a great job in school and gymnastics. She was just asked to join the competitive gymnastics group next spring. They practice 10 hours a week…..so we still have a lot to think about. She’s our little artist and dancer. I have to admit that I’m a little nervous for her teenage years, but I’m going to enjoy our little girl as much as I can while she still thinks we’re smart.

I love you Emma Grace!
