Four Thanksgivings

Yesterday was our final Thanksgiving celebration. This year we added a couple of dinners so we could enjoy Thanksgiving with a few extra family members. We’re so lucky to have a big family. Here are some pics I grabbed on Sunday from Nathan’s family celebration. You can see more on the site with the password “thanks08″.

Thanks to a German tradition, we each have to eat one brussel sprout. (I think it gives you good luck all year….or something along those lines.)

Nathan’s sister Coleen has 5 very handsome boys! Wesley (who i think is 3ish) reminds me so much of when Jacob was younger, it breaks my heart a little.

This must have been the year of the cake. Caleb’s above, was wonderful, and I was super impressed by yet another one of his talents. And who knew Kristy was a cake decorator!? She made this Turkey Cake all by herself without a pattern or anything.

This last picture is no joke. My brother cleared the room after 8 hours of soup and beans….we have a stinky cushion to prove it. Seriously, my eyes were watering! Thanks Angie for the pic!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We truly are blessed.

family time.

In between spending time with my family here and in Harrison, I’ve been spending time with a few other families for their sessions. Here is a great bunch that invited me over for an unseasonably warm afternoon.

Thanks Amy and family for a fun day. I love working with you, and I can’t wait until next time!

Millie

This is Millie. She’s a senior from Bergman, and she is so sweet and beautiful.

Millie, you are awesome. Thanks so much for being so trusting and fun! Congratulations and good luck!

A beautiful wedding.

We’re back from San Antonio, and I can’t wait to share the brilliant wedding Rachel and I photographed, but for now here’s a wonderful one that was a little closer to home:
A couple of weeks ago we headed out to Fayetteville to photograph Kevin and Amanda’s wedding at St. Catherine’s Stone Chapel.

There were so many sentimental touches in this day. One of the sweetest was that Amanda took a small strip of Kevin’s mother’s wedding dress for her bouquet. The dress had been worn in her German wedding and still has stains from the snow on the bottom. It was a beautiful thing to photograph before the wedding.

Having Rachel with me as my Second Photographer is always such a huge benefit, and I highly recommend adding a second photographer to any package. She took these next four photos that I couldn’t have taken from her point-of-view. Some were taken in the moment, and some were taken while I was at a different angle.

Kevin and Amanda, thank you for a wonderful day. You are both lovely together!

ethan

Meet Ethan. He is a Senior at Valley and was so much fun to work with. Isn’t he dreamy!?

Ethan was so brave when he climbed up into this old loft. I thought it was so worth it, but I wasn’t the one risking possible injury.

This one reminds me of James Dean a little.

Ethan’s girlfriend Cara came along for some cute couple’s pictures.
The last picture was one of my favorites from our day together. We were lucky enough to have his sister Amy helping us stay creative. She was the one who suggested we get out into this highway while she kept an ear out for cars. Thanks Amy!

Ethan, you’re a stud, and I can’t wait to see what you do in the next few years. Good luck!

Trick or Treat.

Friday was a busy day of School parties and last minute shopping to complete our costumes. This is my first year to have both kids in the same school, and I think I ran up and down the stairs a hundred times trying to split my time equally between each kid’s classroom. It was worth it all though to get to hang out with the kids and see how they interact with their classmates. After school, we got our costumes on and headed to Rachel and Jamie’s house to trick or treat in their neighborhood which is a “real neighborhood with like a block” is how Jacob described it.

Jacob was a Mad Scientist and Emma was the Little Mermaid.

Nathan went to work as a basketball star complete with his 7th GRADE UNIFORM THAT STILL FITS…..sort of. And I got to dress up like Sarah Palin. It was a lot of fun, but I strained my left eye from winking so much.

We were excited to see that Jamie and Rachel had dressed up too, but I’m not so sure Jamie was excited about his tights…..

The kids thought it was pretty cool to Trick-or-Treat from a police car.

Audrie stole the night with her kitty cat costume.

I hope you all had a Happy Halloween, and good luck with the voting tomorrow!
